Job Description
Principal Data Architect designing AWS-Snowflake pipelines that turn government healthcare claims into fraud alerts at GDIT. Owning event-driven architecture, standards, integrations, and production delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Design the architecture for an event-driven pipeline moving Partner data from the HFPP warehouse into deployed fraud signals and Partner alerts
- Design data flows, warehouse and HFPP Portal analytics-extension integrations, and AWS and Snowflake architecture choices
- Own sign-off on the pipeline architecture and material architectural changes
- Establish standards for scalability, failure handling, and onboarding new fraud signals
- Build proof-of-concept integrations and the most complex event-driven pipeline components
- Design within data-security and PII/PHI constraints established by a separate compliance function
- Collaborate with Data Science on representing approved fraud-signal logic in the pipeline
- Track government review and approval cadence so the architecture can absorb new signals on schedule
- Report through analytic leadership and work with technical and investigative teams
- Work alongside a Data Engineer responsible for building and monitoring the pipeline
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
- 8+ years designing and owning production data architecture
- Experience building and running at least one event-driven or streaming pipeline at real scale
- Deep hands-on experience with AWS and Snowflake
- Experience designing event-driven ingestion patterns feeding a warehouse-native scoring/analytics layer
- Strong Python and SQL
- Experience designing systems under data-security/compliance constraints, including PII/PHI or comparable sensitive data
- Experience working with a separate security function rather than owning security policy
- Track record of setting or reviewing architecture standards for other engineers
- Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment with sign-off authority and no direct reports
- Experience with healthcare claims data or another highly regulated, high-scrutiny data domain is desired
- Experience designing alerting/notification systems tied to a customer- or partner-facing portal is desired
- Experience with fraud or anomaly-detection pipelines is desired
- Experience presenting architecture decisions to a government or compliance reviewer is desired
- Less than 10% travel required
