Job Description
Data Engineer managing pipelines, databases, and data quality for MVM, a government services provider. Developing reports, schemas, mappings, and data models for organizational operations.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze raw data from various sources
- Develop and maintain datasets, schemas, and models
- Improve data quality and efficiency
- Document data flows and mappings
- Collaborate with data analysts, scientists, and other stakeholders
- Develop internal and external reports
- Assist with building out the data dictionary
- Analyze datasets to ensure alignment with organizational objectives
- Advise on updated reporting to capture data through mapping and format it into usable, interpretable formats
- Bring innovation and creativity to legacy technologies and programs to drive and shift changes
- Perform related duties as assigned within scope of practice
- Support mission-critical operations requiring a flexible schedule for 24/7/365-day operations
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or related field
- Minimum of five (5) or more years experience in a data engineering role; management experience a plus
- Knowledge of data structures, algorithms and programming languages, preferably SQL, Python, and R
- Experience with PowerBI
- Experience in data engineering, development or analysis
- Experience with Azure platform
- Knowledge of data security and compliance, including data encryption, access control, data masking, and safe handling of PII
- Proficiency in database systems, tools and frameworks
- Data visualization, communication and presentation skills
- Strong computer skills in MS Office, including Excel, Word, and Teams
- Ability to type 45 wpm
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance
- Favorable credit check for cleared positions
- Successfully pass a background investigation and drug screen
- May be required to pass position-specific requirements, such as DOT exam, vaccinations, CPR, or flu shot
- US Citizenship
- Ability to write, type, and use a telephone system
- Ability to attend meetings with managers and employees
