Job Description

Database Administrator IV managing secure, scalable enterprise databases for Modivcare, a healthcare access and transportation company. Modernizing platforms, advancing cloud adoption, and automating reliable data operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain enterprise database platforms including IBM Db2, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and other relational and NoSQL technologies
  • Design and implement highly available, secure, and scalable database environments
  • Monitor database performance and implement query tuning, execution plan analysis, indexing, partitioning, and configuration tuning
  • Design and maintain backup, recovery, disaster recovery, replication, resilience, and high-availability solutions
  • Implement database security controls and protect sensitive data including PHI
  • Perform proactive monitoring, maintenance, capacity planning, and performance management
  • Manage data retention, archival, restoration, purge, and storage optimization
  • Partner with application developers, data engineers, analytics, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and business stakeholders
  • Administer AWS database services including Amazon RDS, Amazon Aurora, and Amazon Redshift
  • Support database migration, modernization, cloud adoption, integration, and consolidation initiatives
  • Troubleshoot complex issues, perform root-cause analysis, and resolve production incidents
  • Develop automation scripts and tools for provisioning, monitoring, maintenance, backup validation, security validation, and operations
  • Maintain database documentation, standards, procedures, and best practices
  • Ensure compliance with data governance and regulatory requirements
  • Utilize AI-powered tools responsibly to improve efficiency and automate routine work
  • Participate in after-hours support and scheduled maintenance as needed

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Seven (7) or more years of experience administering enterprise database environments
  • Professional database certifications preferred, including IBM Db2, MongoDB, AWS Certified Database – Specialty, Microsoft SQL Server, or PostgreSQL
  • Experience administering IBM Db2, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and relational and NoSQL databases
  • Strong SQL programming skills
  • Expertise in database architecture, physical and logical design, indexing, partitioning, query optimization, execution plans, and performance tuning
  • Strong understanding of backup and recovery, replication, clustering, high availability, disaster recovery, resilience, and business continuity planning
  • Experience implementing enterprise database security, including RBAC, authentication, authorization, encryption, auditing, least-privilege access, dynamic data masking, row- and column-level security, and PHI protection
  • Experience supporting Windows and Linux server environments
  • Experience administering Amazon RDS, Amazon Aurora, and Amazon Redshift
  • Strong understanding of relational database architecture, lifecycle management, and operational best practices
  • Ability to optimize performance in high-volume transactional and analytical environments
  • Experience with database monitoring, administration, automation, and performance-management tools
  • Experience supporting database migration, modernization, data warehousing, ETL, or business intelligence solutions preferred
  • Experience developing automation using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar scripting technologies preferred
  • Experience with DevOps, Infrastructure as Code, automation frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines preferred
  • Familiarity with healthcare, financial services, or other regulated industries preferred
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to production incidents
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data integrity, security, compliance, and operational excellence
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate across technical and business teams
  • Ability to leverage AI-enabled tools responsibly while following organizational policies and data-security requirements
  • Ability to perform primarily seated work with extensive computer and telephone use and occasionally lift up to 10 lbs.
