Job Description

Database reliability engineer automating PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis operations for Ford. Applying Dynatrace observability, infrastructure as code, and self-healing automation.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage large-scale PostgreSQL instances, including performance tuning and high-availability configurations
  • Architect, deploy, and maintain MongoDB replica sets; optimize aggregation pipelines and ensure consistency and scalability
  • Manage Redis deployments for caching and real-time data, including Sentinel or Cluster high availability
  • Handle database migrations, upgrades, patching, and backups across platforms
  • Use Dynatrace to monitor database health, build dashboards, and configure intelligent alerting
  • Perform AI-assisted root cause analysis for bottlenecks, deadlocks, and slow queries
  • Analyze data growth and resource utilization for capacity planning
  • Automate database provisioning and configuration using Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation
  • Integrate database schema changes and deployments into CI/CD pipelines
  • Develop Python, Bash, or Go scripts for maintenance automation and self-healing capabilities

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience with PostgreSQL, including MVCC, WAL, and extension management
  • 3+ years of experience managing production MongoDB NoSQL environments, including sharding and security hardening
  • Proven experience managing Redis at scale, including persistence, memory management, and eviction policies
  • Hands-on experience with Dynatrace or similar APM tools such as Datadog or New Relic
  • Proficiency in Ansible or Terraform
  • Strong scripting skills in Python or Bash
  • Expert-level Linux/Unix command-line proficiency
  • Understanding of system-level performance tuning, including kernel parameters and I/O scheduling
  • Preferred: Docker, Kubernetes, cloud-native database services, and relevant database or Dynatrace certifications
  • Ability to solve complex, multi-dimensional problems under pressure
  • Strong communication skills for cross-team collaboration
  • Meticulous approach to data integrity and system security
