Job Description

Senior DevOps Engineer modernizing AWS infrastructure for the company. Migrating AWS codebases to GitHub Actions and strengthening CI/CD, observability, security, and production support.

Responsibilities:

  • Modernize the company’s infrastructure
  • Tighten production support
  • Drive a CI/CD transformation
  • Build a mature DevOps function from the inside
  • Work closely day to day with Oscar
  • Move the company’s AWS codebase into GitHub Actions
  • Design and standardize pipelines
  • Support release management practices
  • Design dashboards and develop an alerting strategy
  • Clean up and rationalize monitoring
  • Analyze AWS spend and optimize resources
  • Develop scaling and de-scaling strategies
  • Administer WAF and apply AWS security best practices
  • Improve incident detection and response processes

Requirements:

  • Strong AWS operational expertise
  • Experience with AWS infrastructure and operations, including EC2, Auto Scaling, Load Balancers, and VPC networking fundamentals
  • Operational troubleshooting experience
  • GitHub Actions experience required, including workflow design, reusable workflows, secrets/OIDC, and migrating existing pipelines
  • CI/CD and deployment automation experience, including pipeline design and standardization and release management practices
  • Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Monitoring and observability experience, including dashboard design, alerting strategy, and monitoring cleanup and rationalization
  • Experience with Datadog or an equivalent monitoring tool
  • Cost optimization and capacity planning experience, including AWS spend analysis, resource optimization, and scaling and de-scaling strategy
  • AWS security experience, including WAF administration and security best practices
  • Production support experience, including incident detection and response processes
  • Datadog administration and optimization (nice-to-have)
  • Slack integrations for alerting (nice-to-have)
  • Containers: ECS, EKS, or Docker (nice-to-have)
  • Scripting with Python or Bash (nice-to-have)
  • Financial services or other regulated-environment background (nice-to-have)
  • AWS certification: SysOps Administrator, Solutions Architect, or DevOps Engineer Professional (nice-to-have)
