Job Description
Hands-on Engineering Manager für digitale Softwareprodukte bei Hackstack Collective. Führung eines Entwicklerteams bei gleichzeitiger Mitarbeit an Architektur, Code und technischer Umsetzung.
Responsibilities:
- Lead an engineering team both technically and organizationally
- Establish clear priorities and responsibilities, and ensure effective execution
- Make architectural decisions, conduct code reviews, develop technical concepts, and implement solutions hands-on
- Translate business requirements into realistic technical plans
- Provide transparent visibility into progress, risks, and dependencies
- Work closely with Product, Business, and executive leadership
- Represent Engineering in key discussions
- Conduct regular 1:1s, provide constructive feedback, and support developers in their professional and personal growth
- Structure development processes, release workflows, team rituals, and incident handling
- Support hiring, team building, and the continued development of a productive engineering culture
- Challenge requirements constructively and prioritize technical feasibility
Requirements:
- At least 5 years of professional software development experience
- Experience leading or providing technical direction to developers, for example as an Engineering Manager, Tech Lead, Senior Engineer with team responsibility, Founding Engineer, or in a comparable role
- Willingness to continue working in a technical, hands-on capacity
- Solid understanding of modern backend architectures, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and production-ready software development
- Experience with Python or comparable backend technologies is a plus, but not required
- Experience with AI-related products, automation, data-driven workflows, or modern AI integrations is an advantage
- Clear, dependable, and understandable communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong decision-making skills and ownership of execution
- Fluent German and English required
