Job Description

Field Service Engineer installing, commissioning, and maintaining UVeye’s AI-powered vehicle inspection systems. Leading contractors and troubleshooting hardware, software, electrical, and mechanical issues across UK and European customer sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Own on-site execution of new UVeye system installations from site readiness through testing, commissioning, and customer handoff
  • Lead assigned installations and coordinate third-party contractors
  • Serve as the primary on-site technical contact for customers
  • Assess site readiness, layouts, technical requirements, and infrastructure conditions
  • Install, configure, test, and validate UVeye hardware and supporting systems
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, electrical, and mechanical issues
  • Perform preventative, corrective, and emergency maintenance at customer sites
  • Maintain on-site safety, identify hazards, ensure PPE use, and escalate unsafe conditions
  • Partner with Operations, Support, Engineering, Customer Success, and other internal teams
  • Complete installation, commissioning, maintenance, and service documentation
  • Identify recurring field issues and provide feedback to improve installation processes, system reliability, and customer experience

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience as a Field Service Engineer, Field Engineer, Field Technician, or similar role involving hardware/software installation, deployment, or maintenance
  • Proven experience leading contractors or teams during technical installations
  • Strong hands-on skills across civil works, networking, electrical wiring, and mechanical assemblies
  • Working knowledge of Linux-based systems and basic networking principles
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to write clear installation, service, and maintenance documentation
  • Previous experience using AutoCAD, Autodesk, or similar software to interpret site layouts
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong customer service mindset
  • Strong safety mindset
  • Resilience and adaptability in changing field environments
  • Ability and willingness to meet travel requirements
  • Valid driving licence
  • Experience working in a startup or fast-growing company (ideally)
  • Certified electrician qualification or relevant electrical experience (ideally)
  • Degree or technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (ideally)
  • Experience with CAD software (ideally)
  • Experience in the automotive industry (ideally)
  • Additional scripting, networking, or advanced troubleshooting knowledge (ideally)
  • Extensive travel to customer and installation sites across the UK and Europe
  • Weekly overnight travel
  • Ability to work occasionally outside standard business hours
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods, bend, reach, and occasionally manually handle equipment and tools up to 40 kg
  • Ability to follow site safety requirements and use PPE when required
