Job Description
Firmware engineering co-op developing microcode, firmware, FPGA, and DSP interfaces for Intel custom silicon. Testing implementations and collaborating with experienced engineers remotely across Canada.
Responsibilities:
- Develop software with a direct interface to hardware, including microcode, IP-specific firmware, FPGA, and DSPs
- Design and implement interfaces that abstract low-level hardware details from higher levels of software and firmware
- Perform design and code reviews
- Test and validate product implementations
- Work alongside experienced engineers to solve new and interesting problems
- Contribute to custom silicon solutions during an eight-month co-op beginning January 2027
Requirements:
- Current undergraduate student
- Studying Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Knowledge of C programming and system software
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate and influence across disciplines
- Self-directed, with ownership and ability to drive issues to conclusion
- General knowledge of embedded systems, digital ASIC design, and software/firmware development and testing methodology is an asset
- Additional experience in C++, Rust, System C, Python, and/or Domain Specific Language modeling is preferred
- Understanding of processors, servers, and system software architecture is preferred
- SoC architecture, SoC subsystem architecture, IP architecture, and/or microarchitecture knowledge is preferred
- Must live and work in Canada
- Not eligible for Intel Immigration Sponsorship
