Job Description

Grants administrator managing pre- and post-award research funding for City of Hope’s cancer and disease research institute. Overseeing award compliance, subawards, reporting, and proposal support.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the pre- and post-award administration of externally funded research
  • Manage award setup, account establishment, funding modifications, budget period updates, rebudgeting, and compliance reviews
  • Coordinate with research administration, accounting, and departmental stakeholders for grant account setup and award management
  • Perform conflict of interest, IRB/IACUC concordance, cost-sharing, and sponsor budget compliance checks
  • Track sponsor reporting requirements, including progress, financial, final invoice, and invention reports
  • Administer subawards through risk assessments, sanction screenings, audit monitoring, database maintenance, and contract system documentation
  • Process subaward purchase orders and resolve system and payment issues
  • Provide proposal review support during peak periods
  • Contribute to process improvements, policy development, staff training, and operational initiatives
  • Deliver customer service to internal and external stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3-5 years increasingly responsible experience, preferably in research/grant administration
  • 2-3 years’ experience in business/administrative analysis, preferably with emphasis in Research Administration, including grant budgeting and grant management
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to build effective relationships and work successfully in a team-oriented environment
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Excellent prioritization abilities
  • Capacity to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining accuracy and professionalism
  • Certified Research Administrator (CRA) qualification desired
