Job Description

Data Scientist supporting GDIT’s Medicare/Medicaid fraud, waste, and abuse analytics. Building machine-learning, generative-AI, claims-data, and visualization solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Support analytical tasks across data science, machine learning, and generative-AI projects
  • Assist with analysis of Medicare and Medicaid claims data using statistical methods and supervised/unsupervised learning techniques
  • Help develop generative-AI solution components, including prompt pipelines, simple agents, embedding workflows, and retrieval-augmented systems
  • Contribute to predictive modeling, anomaly detection, and program-integrity analytics
  • Build and maintain clean datasets using Python and SQL-based tools
  • Create visualizations presenting trends, patterns, and model insights
  • Document work and communicate findings with team members and partners
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree with an analytical or technical focus, such as Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or Applied Mathematics
  • At least 2 years of experience in Data Science
  • Experience analyzing data, preferably healthcare or claims data
  • Familiarity with Python or R for data analysis and machine learning
  • Experience with Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, Matplotlib, or Seaborn
  • Exposure to generative AI or modern machine learning frameworks, such as Hugging Face Transformers, LangChain, embeddings, or vector databases
  • Familiarity with SQL and cloud data tools such as Databricks, Snowflake, or Spark is a plus
  • Understanding of basic statistics and foundational machine learning concepts, including feature engineering, train/test splits, and evaluation metrics
  • Ability to create and interpret data visualizations
  • NACI (T1) public trust requirement
  • Travel required less than 10%
