Job Description
High School Science Teacher delivering virtual instruction for Kansas Connections Academy, a tuition-free online public school. Supporting Kansas students through instruction, grading, family communication, and state testing.
Responsibilities:
- Manage instructional programs for high school science students
- Consult regularly with learning coaches and students by telephone, Internet, and curriculum tools
- Complete grading, create progress reports, and conduct parent conferences
- Support asynchronous web conferencing sessions and synchronous instruction
- Review curriculum and devise alternate lesson presentations to increase student understanding
- Develop and update Personal Learning Plans and schedules with parents, students, and teachers
- Score assessments, provide feedback, suggest instructional strategies, monitor assignments, and coach special projects
- Collaborate with teachers to support student progress and provide parents with a central point of contact
- Develop broad knowledge of the K-12 curriculum and detailed knowledge of assigned courses
- Provide alternate strategies and additional assistance with assignments and projects
- Maintain current student records and data, including cumulative files, online information, attendance, and contact logs
- Develop enrichment activities and program modifications with teachers and learning specialists
- Create and maintain a virtual school community
- Participate in state testing organization and administration
- Coordinate with Advisory Teachers and School Counselors regarding communications, student progress, and goals
- Attend field trips and community activities
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Highly qualified and certified to teach High School Science in Kansas
- Strong technology skills, especially with Microsoft OS, MS Office programs, and Google Suite
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Customer-focused approach
- High degree of flexibility
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
- Team player track record
- Willingness to travel occasionally for marketing and state testing events, potentially including overnight travel
- Ability to work occasional evening hours as needed to support families
- Must be able to use a personal electronic device and email address for 2-step authentication
