Job Description
High School Science Teacher delivering personalized online instruction for Texas students through Stride’s tech-enabled education programs. Monitoring progress, supporting families, and preparing learners for standardized tests.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specific course content in an online environment
- Provide instruction, support, and guidance while managing the learning process
- Personalize learning and differentiate instruction based on student mastery
- Monitor student progress through Stride K12’s learning management system
- Work closely with students and parents/learning coaches toward established learning goals
- Augment course content using synchronous and asynchronous tools under principal and coach guidance
- Maintain the grade book and ensure student academic integrity
- Make student placement and promotion decisions and alert administrators to performance concerns
- Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests
- Establish positive rapport with families and communicate with students and learning coaches/parents promptly
- Support learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting issues
- Travel as required for professional development, student testing, and school functions
Requirements:
- Active High School 4-8 Generalist or Science Certification
- Texas residency requirement
- Bachelor's degree
- Active state teaching license
- Ability to clear required background check
- Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week
- Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during the workday, typically 9-5 or 8-4
- Experience with the proposed age group preferred
- Experience supporting adults and children with technology preferred
- Online, virtual, or brick-and-mortar teaching experience preferred
- Experience with online learning platforms preferred
- Ability to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic student-data representations and use them for instructional decisions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint desired
- Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
- Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum
