Job Description
Online Grade 6 Life Science teacher delivering personalized lessons for Crimson Global Academy, a global online school. Teaching US curriculum content through live one-to-one lessons.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality live Grade 6 Life Science lessons tailored to the student's needs, pace and goals
- Teach cells and cell structure, living systems and the human body, genetics and heredity, ecosystems and food webs, adaptation and evolution, and diversity of living things
- Guide the student through the scientific method, including questions, hypotheses, at-home investigations, observations and conclusions
- Develop skills in scientific vocabulary, interpreting data, diagrams and models, and explaining thinking clearly
- Use teaching strategies and digital tools, including virtual labs, simulations and interactive resources
- Assess student progress, provide targeted feedback and adapt teaching approaches
- Plan and communicate course schedules, milestones and assessment timelines
- Set homework, activities and assessments
- Communicate regularly with the student's family and the CGA team about progress
- Develop educational materials and contribute to CGA's learning resources
Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years' teaching experience in a school setting; tutoring experience cannot be counted towards this requirement
- A Bachelor's degree or higher in Biology, Life Science, General Science, Science Education or a related field
- Strong knowledge of middle school life science content and the US curriculum
- Exceptional communication skills for effective interaction with students, parents and the CGA team
- Familiarity with online teaching platforms
- Previous experience teaching Life Science or General Science at middle school level (Grades 6 to 8) preferred
- Experience teaching a US curriculum, including familiarity with NGSS preferred
- Experience delivering personalized one-to-one instruction and adapting lessons for different learning needs preferred
- A recognized teaching qualification, such as a postgraduate certificate in education, teaching degree or teaching license preferred
- Previous online teaching experience preferred
