Job Description
Infrastructure Engineer managing ServiceNow platform and secure infrastructure in air-gapped environments. Seeking VMware, Windows, and Linux skilled professional with Secret clearance.
Responsibilities:
- Support and maintain the ServiceNow platform and its underlying infrastructure in a disconnected (dark site / air-gapped) environment
- Design, deploy, configure, and maintain secure, highly available infrastructure including servers, virtualization platforms, operating systems, and application deployments
- Deploy, configure, and manage VMware vCenter, ESXi hosts, virtual machines, templates, and resource pools
- Administer Windows Server and RHEL environments, including Active Directory and identity services
- Create and maintain OVAs, golden images, and VM templates for consistent deployments
- Automate provisioning and maintenance using PowerShell, Bash, or similar tools
- Ensure scalability, availability, and operational continuity
- Provide infrastructure-level support for a disconnected ServiceNow deployment
- Assist with application deployments, configuration, and troubleshooting
- Manage storage, basic networking, and backup/restore processes (e.g., Cohesity or similar)
- Provide light support for related systems such as MS SQL tools (WSUS, Volume Activation)
- Collaborate with Architecture, DevOps, Security, and application teams to deliver compliant solutions
- Produce and maintain infrastructure diagrams, build guides, and compliance documentation
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Infrastructure Engineer or similar role
- Strong hands-on expertise with VMware (vCenter, ESXi, templates, OVAs, cloning, deployment)
- Solid Windows Server and RHEL/Linux administration skills, including Active Directory
- Experience building and deploying virtual images and application servers
- Scripting/automation proficiency (PowerShell, Bash; Python a plus)
- Knowledge of security hardening and compliance frameworks (CIS, NIST, STIGs)
- Experience operating in air-gapped or disconnected environments
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills
- Ability to work both independently and within cross-functional teams in high-security settings.
- Basic MariaDB/MySQL administration is a plus
- Familiarity with enterprise backup and disaster recovery tools (e.g., Cohesity) is preferred
- Exposure to ServiceNow infrastructure requirements is a plus
- Basic MS SQL support experience is desirable
- Knowledge of additional virtualization platforms (Hyper-V, KVM) or hybrid/cloud concepts is beneficial
- Certifications such as VMware VCP, RHCSA/RHCE, Microsoft Windows Server, Security+, or equivalent are appreciated
- Experience supporting secure government or large enterprise environments.
