Job Description
Innovation Architect shaping DeVry University’s higher-education strategy through emerging technologies and prototypes. Leading cross-functional transformation projects that improve student outcomes and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the creation and refinement of DeVry University's innovation strategy
- Identify opportunities where innovation can enhance competitive advantage and student and faculty experiences
- Architect and prototype innovative solutions using emerging technologies and methodologies
- Drive solution design from ideation through execution
- Monitor technology, industry, and educational-methodology trends
- Evaluate and recommend tools, platforms, and practices for higher-education innovation
- Partner with academic, IT, and administrative teams on innovation initiatives
- Facilitate innovation workshops and brainstorming sessions
- Oversee prototypes and proof-of-concept projects
- Apply agile methodologies to iterate and refine concepts based on feedback and metrics
- Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
- Communicate initiative value to stakeholders and secure support
- Manage multiple innovation projects on schedule, within scope, and within budget
- Develop project plans covering timelines, resources, and risks
- Mentor junior team members and other departments in innovative thinking and practices
- Establish metrics and report innovation progress and impact to senior leadership
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Technology, Engineering, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in IT
- 5–7 years of experience in innovation, product development, or a related role
- Proven track record of delivering successful innovation projects
- Experience in a leadership or architect role
- Strong understanding of emerging technologies such as AI, IoT, and blockchain and their business applications
- Proficiency in innovation frameworks and methodologies, including design thinking, lean startup, or agile
- Experience with the Salesforce ecosystem, including Salesforce CRM, AppExchange, and Salesforce cloud solutions
- Familiarity with higher-education challenges and opportunities
- Ability to translate business objectives into innovative solutions
- Strong analytical skills for assessing the potential impact of ideas and technologies
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders
- Demonstrated leadership, change-management, mentoring, and innovation-culture-building abilities
- Preferred: Master's degree or additional certifications in innovation, design thinking, or technology management
- Preferred: Certifications in innovation management, project management such as PMP, or related areas
- Preferred: Experience with digital transformation initiatives or a similar industry sector
- Preferred: Higher-education experience
- Preferred: Familiarity with data-driven decision-making and performance-measurement tools
