Job Description

Junior Graphic Designer supporting Marketing and Communications team at Rick Hansen Foundation. Creating visual assets for print and digital media with a focus on inclusion and accessibility.

Responsibilities:

  • Support with ongoing projects aimed at increased efficiency
  • Liaise with team members for review and feedback, adjust as needed
  • Assist in creating visual assets for digital and print media, including layouts, graphics, and presentations
  • Support in developing concepts and executing design projects
  • Format documents, reports, and presentations to ensure clarity, visual appeal, and adherence to brand and accessibility guidelines
  • Work with Marcomm manager and other team members to meet project requirements
  • Maintain RHF brand guidelines and ensure consistency across all deliverables
  • Prioritize and implement accessible design best practices
  • Support multiple projects simultaneously and adhere to deadlines
  • Support administrative tasks such as video editing and saving digital materials
  • Perform other related duties in keeping with the purpose and accountabilities of the position.

Requirements:

  • Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with BC legislation and regulations
  • A degree or diploma in graphic design preferred
  • Proficiency with graphic design and editing software such as Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards in design
  • Familiar with design principles, including typography, layout, and colour theory
  • Strong creativity and problem-solving skills
  • Effective oral and written communication, interpersonal, presentation and organizational skills
  • Strong skills in MS Word and PowerPoint for document editing and presentation design
  • Strategic thinker with an ability to execute
  • Strong attention to detail
  • High degree of professionalism, flexibility and adaptability
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
  • High level of discretion, tact, and judgment when handling confidential and sensitive information.
