Job Description
Kafka and streaming engineer modernizing client integration solutions. Developing Java, Flink, Kafka Connect, and Confluent applications across the SDLC.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, improve, and support solutions in the streaming integration domain
- Develop Kafka-based applications for clients
- Perform intermediate- to low-level design and development within an architecture pattern established by a senior architect
- Participate through the remainder of the SDLC, including design, development, testing, and deployment
- Perform detailed design of solution components in an EDA solution
- Work with architects to understand context, patterns, technology choices, and integrations
- Design and develop event schemas
- Document designs based on business and technical requirements
- Work with clients to understand detailed requirements and identify gaps
- Provide solution feedback to the architecture team
- Design Kafka topics and configurations
- Develop Java microservices and applications meeting functional and nonfunctional requirements
- Develop Flink streaming applications
- Configure and deploy connectors integrating with external systems
- Support deployment and testing
- Apply Kubernetes basics for deployment and containerization
- Use CI/CD and deployment/configuration platforms to deploy and run solutions
- Analyze and address bugs
- Design and implement infrastructure considering reliability, availability, durability, and performance
- Translate business requirements into technical designs and development plans
- Perform unit and integration testing and validate results with stakeholders
- Troubleshoot data issues, report defects and performance bottlenecks, and provide production support and enhancements
Requirements:
- At least three (3) years of Information Technology related work experience in an integration focused Java development role
- Strong experience with source code management (ex. Git)
- Experience with Java build concepts and tooling (ex. Gradle, Maven)
- Strong capabilities in Spring Boot
- Strong experience with Kafka / Confluent Platform
- Experience working with Java-Kafka integrations using Kafka-Client and/or Kafka-Streams
- Experience with Kafka Connect, Flink
- Experience with Avro
- Understanding of EDA concepts
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
