Job Description

Lead developer owning Java, C++, and AI capabilities for Primate Technologies’ mission-critical electric utility software platform. Guiding architecture, releases, customer implementations, and technical roadmap.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as technical leader and owner of the mission-critical product platform
  • Maintain and evolve system architecture across customer implementations, product enhancements, and future growth
  • Design, develop, and maintain Java and C++ software components across multiple releases
  • Drive integration and evolution of AI/ML capabilities using appropriate technologies, frameworks, and APIs
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical solutions and prioritize work
  • Establish engineering, coding, architecture, and development standards and drive technical decisions
  • Participate in estimates, implementation, code reviews, debugging, risk analysis, and performance optimization
  • Ensure software quality through automated testing, continuous integration, and code quality practices
  • Support deployments, customer issue resolution, and continuous product improvement
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend architecture and process improvements
  • Recommend system solutions by comparing custom development with standard products
  • Develop technical documentation, knowledge articles, and support resources
  • Serve as primary technical resource for customer solution design, implementation planning, presentations, and troubleshooting
  • Own the technical roadmap throughout the product lifecycle
  • Champion source control, automated testing, CI/CD, secure coding, release management, API design, and observability
  • Partner with executive leadership, product stakeholders, and support teams
  • Build customer and stakeholder relationships and communicate complex technical concepts
  • Help administer corporate IT systems and services such as Google Workspace or Zoho Desk
  • Assist with procurement and provisioning of IT systems and servers
  • Travel to user sites and, if needed, the Brevard County data center for troubleshooting, updates, and maintenance
  • Independently solve complex technical challenges and prioritize competing demands

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Java
  • Proficiency in C/C++
  • Programming skills in JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Experience with AI-enabled capabilities using modern LLMs, APIs, vector search, prompt engineering, or related technologies
  • Skills in software requirements, software development processes, configuration management, object-oriented design, and software debugging
  • User experience design knowledge
  • Teamwork and written/verbal communication skills
  • Preferred experience developing software for electric utilities or other mission-critical environments
  • Preferred experience with real-time visualization systems, SQL databases, software integration, and modern software deployment practices
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must successfully complete background checks, drug and alcohol screening, and customer-required cybersecurity and critical infrastructure security screenings
  • Approximately 15% travel may be required throughout North America
