Job Description
Litigation Compliance Attorney at TopDog Law responsible for ethics compliance in a remote role. Collaborating with the general counsel and overseeing litigation processes in a rapidly growing law firm.
Responsibilities:
- Work directly with the law firm’s general counsel to perform research, writing, and investigation into various legal and ethical compliance issues
- Drafting Firm SOPs for ethics compliance for all phases of litigation matters in many states across the U.S., including client intake, pre-litigation phases, litigation phases, and settlement and IOLTA account processes
- Draft and revise firm form agreements and documents, including retainer agreements, standard client communications, demands, termination of representation, and settlement statements
- Evaluating conflicts of interest and drafting waivers for conflicts
- Assist in implementing and updating internal compliance policies and protocols
- Audit and high-level oversight of case handling of large portfolio of cases to assure compliance and performance
- Advising and auditing for litigation ethics compliance across the firm
- Track key case metrics and escalate issues as needed to supervising attorneys and management
Requirements:
- J.D. from an accredited law school; active license to practice law in state of residence, in a major US state.
- 4+ years of plaintiff-side litigation experience in a prominent law firm
- 2+ years of experience in ethics compliance relating to litigation
- Must be highly organized with great attention to detail
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable juggling legal compliance and business interests, working with stakeholders across the firm
- Self-starter capable of working effectively in a remote work environment.
- Nice to Have: Litigation experience in multiple states, with knowledge of different rules of ethics and rules of civil procedure, demonstrating a broad scope of knowledge
- Experience in plaintiff-side personal injury litigation
- Familiarity with CRM systems and project management software
- Strong legal analysis skills and relationship management capabilities
- Business-oriented mindset
- Proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Bar membership in Arizona is preferred but not required.
