Job Description

Mechanical Design Engineer developing CAD hardware for Capgemini Engineering’s automated heavy equipment. Creating production-ready designs, drawings, and assemblies for industrial field applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop mechanical designs from concept sketches through detailed 3D models, drawings, and production release
  • Apply industrial design principles including ergonomics, human factors, serviceability, proportion, and product aesthetics
  • Build and maintain parametric 3D CAD models and large assemblies in a cloud-based CAD environment
  • Produce manufacturing-ready detail drawings with GD&T, tolerances, bills of material, and engineering change documentation
  • Apply design-for-manufacturing and design-for-assembly principles to reduce part count, cost, and assembly time
  • Develop enclosures, brackets, mounts, guards, covers, and operator-facing hardware using sheet metal, machined, molded, and fabricated forms
  • Maintain CAD data hygiene, part numbering, revision control, and design libraries
  • Work closely with engineering, product, and manufacturing counterparts in the United States
  • Support development of automated mobile heavy equipment that removes humans from dull, dirty, and dangerous jobs

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Product Design, Industrial Design, or a related field
  • 3 to 4 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in industrial equipment or heavy machinery
  • Strong industrial design skills with experience in concept development, product appearance, ergonomics, and hardware design
  • Proficient in 3D CAD tools, preferably SolidWorks; experience with Creo or NX is valuable
  • Good knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and engineering drawing standards (ASME Y14.5 or ISO)
  • Understanding of sheet metal fabrication, machining, welding, casting, extrusion, and injection molding
  • Knowledge of material selection, surface treatments, coatings, and corrosion protection
  • Familiarity with fasteners, joining methods, and standard mechanical components
  • Basic understanding of structural and thermal analysis is an added advantage
  • Strong English communication skills, written and verbal
  • Self-motivated and capable of managing tasks independently with minimal supervision
  • Good understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems

Benefits:

  • Remote work options
  • Adaptable schedules
  • Inclusive culture
  • Continuous learning opportunities
  • Certifications in emerging technologies like cloud and AI
