Job Description
Unpaid writing intern creating concise civic, political, and podcast content for ONC’s youth-focused media and marketing programs. Supporting nonpartisan education and dialogue.
Responsibilities:
- Write and revise short-form content for projects across the Media and Marketing Department
- Support Care to Converse content with concise copy, summaries, prompts, and promotional material
- Help develop Thursday Terminology posts explaining civic, political, and policy terms in accessible language
- Write and edit podcast episode descriptions, titles, summaries, and promotional copy for publishing platforms
- Adapt ideas and longer source material into short captions, scripts, blurbs, and audience-facing copy
- Proofread for clarity, grammar, tone, factual accuracy, and consistency with ONC’s mission
- Collaborate with writers, podcast producers, designers, team members, and department leadership
- Incorporate feedback and meet agreed-upon deadlines
Requirements:
- Strong writing and editing skills, especially short-form writing
- Ability to summarize complex or lengthy information clearly while keeping it engaging
- Good judgment about tone, audience, accuracy, and nonpartisan communication
- Interest in media, marketing, civic engagement, public policy, or educational content
- Dependable communication and ability to work independently in a remote team
- Commitment through the end of the current semester
- Familiarity with Zoom, Slack, and Google Workspace for remote collaboration
