Job Description

Mid Azure DevOps Engineer supporting Guidehouse’s government and commercial cloud platforms. Building secure Azure infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and resilient application services.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide mission-critical support for department-owned applications and infrastructure
  • Ensure monitoring, scalability, and resiliency across test through production environments
  • Design and implement application build and deployment solutions
  • Build and maintain Azure landing zones and platform services
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or Bicep and enforce GitOps workflows
  • Create reusable modules, pipelines, and standardized patterns for application teams
  • Define and measure SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, and reliability roadmaps
  • Implement observability using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, and Prometheus/Grafana where applicable
  • Conduct capacity planning, resiliency testing, disaster recovery, and performance tuning
  • Build secure CI/CD pipelines with automated testing, security scans, and approvals
  • Standardize blue/green, canary, and rolling deployment strategies
  • Manage AKS container platforms and Azure Container Registry
  • Implement Azure governance and security guardrails using Azure Policy, RBAC, PIM, and equivalent tools
  • Manage secrets and certificates and integrate SAST, DAST, and container scanning
  • Support vulnerability remediation and patching SLAs
  • Own incident response, on-call triage, root cause analysis, and post-incident reviews
  • Optimize cloud costs, tagging, budgets, and spending alerts
  • Maintain runbooks, knowledge base articles, and operational automation
  • Mentor technical staff, review designs and pull requests, and contribute to architecture decisions
  • Partner with application teams to onboard workloads and define nonfunctional requirements
  • Manage or participate in development, test, and production software releases
  • Monitor applications and infrastructure from development through production
  • Monitor, assign, escalate, and communicate submitted tickets
  • Participate in systems design and rotating on-call support

Requirements:

  • Minimum four (4) years of experience with Azure-based infrastructure and services in production
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or an additional four years of experience in lieu of the degree
  • At least two years of experience supporting enterprise-level applications and infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of web infrastructure technologies, including load balancers, DNS, IIS or Apache/WebSphere, authentication and authorization, and database connections
  • Experience with application monitoring, Splunk, or Dynatrace
  • Working knowledge of automation technologies
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Deep expertise in several Azure services, including AKS, App Services, Functions, APIM, Azure SQL/MI, Cosmos DB, Storage, Event Hub/Service Bus, Redis, VNet/Peering, Private Link, Application Gateway/WAF, or Front Door
  • Strong Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform and/or Bicep; Git-based workflows; GitHub or Azure DevOps
  • Proven SRE background, including SLI/SLO design, error budgets, incident management, RCA, capacity, and performance engineering
  • CI/CD design and operations with GitHub Actions and/or Azure DevOps Pipelines; artifact/versioning strategies and release governance
  • Azure observability experience with Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, and alerting/automations
  • Solid networking fundamentals, including DNS, TLS, routing, firewalls, and load balancing
  • Experience with AAD/Entra ID and Key Vault
  • Scripting proficiency in PowerShell and/or Python
  • Linux fundamentals
  • Understanding of security best practices, including RBAC, PIM, Azure Policy, and managed IDE
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical teams
  • US citizen or Green Card holder; no sponsorship available
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD Public Trust
  • Public Trust adjudication must be approved before onboarding
  • Active Public Trust or suitability preferred
  • Mainframe architecture knowledge is a plus
  • At least two years of coding/scripting experience with Java, JavaScript, and HTML is desirable
