Job Description

Firewall focused Network Engineer providing complex technical work at Washington University. Involves network design, documentation, configuration of firewalls, and leadership of junior analysts.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with customers to develop requirements for network services and design cost-effective, secure and reliable solutions
  • Prepares and maintains detailed network documentation for networking team and end users
  • Configures and manages central network components including network firewalls and VPN firewalls
  • Triage and evaluate daily firewall requests into security policy and NAT rules
  • Serves as team leader for junior-level analysts
  • Provides tier three resource for various network performance and connectivity issues
  • Works with SOC to establish policies for managing the network
  • Stays current with new technologies focusing on routing, switching, wireless and security technology
  • Configures security perimeter devices to provide service to end users and departments

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education
  • 4 years of experience in Network And Server
  • Extensive knowledge with routing (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF) and switching (VLANs, Spanning Tree)
  • Knowledge of network firewalls including Cisco ASA, Cisco Secure Firewall, and Palo Alto NGFW
  • Familiarity with Python scripting language including requests library
  • Experience with managing and configuring Palo Alto NGFW and VMs and understanding operational aspects such as dynamic updates and managing GlobalProtect VPN software
