Job Description

Online Cloud Computing Professor teaching practitioner-focused courses for DeVry University. Developing syllabi, delivering virtual instruction, assessing students, and integrating responsible AI technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach cloud computing courses to undergraduate and graduate students
  • Facilitate student learning in accordance with DeVry University requirements
  • Develop course syllabi and lesson plans aligned with course and programmatic objectives
  • Organize, prepare, regularly revise, and update course materials
  • Use websites, email, online discussions, and course-related software to prepare and deliver courses
  • Model effective oral and written communication
  • Publish course objectives, assignment and examination dates, and evaluation weightings
  • Ensure examinations align with course terminal objectives
  • Prepare and grade examinations consistently and fairly
  • Provide timely feedback to students
  • Integrate responsible AI technologies into teaching and learning
  • Recognize, evaluate, and address appropriate and inappropriate student use of AI tools
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Doctorate in Cloud Computing, Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a closely related field required
  • At least 18 graduate credit hours in cloud computing, distributed systems, networking, cybersecurity, or a related computing discipline
  • Unofficial graduate-level transcripts must be uploaded with the application
  • Degree must be awarded by an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, or by an internationally equivalent accredited institution
  • Three to five years of applied professional experience in cloud computing, distributed infrastructure, virtualization, or cloud-native technologies
  • Experience with cloud architecture and cloud-enabled software development, including infrastructure provisioning, containerization, and cloud-platform application deployment
  • Industry-recognized certifications or professional credentials relevant to cloud computing, cloud architecture, infrastructure engineering, or DevOps practices
  • Strong subject matter expertise in cloud technologies
  • Effective communication skills and ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse learners
  • Knowledge of secure and responsible cloud operations, including identity and access management, data protection, regulatory considerations, and cloud security best practices
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development in instructional technology, digital literacy, and responsible AI practices
  • Additional requirements may apply based on state licensing, institutional policy, or accreditation standards
  • Preferred: industry certifications in cloud platforms or cloud architecture, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Preferred: cloud-native development, containerization, microservices, serverless computing, and orchestration experience
  • Preferred: DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and automated security experience
  • Preferred: hybrid and multi-cloud environments, workload migration, cloud cost management, and cloud governance experience
  • Preferred: accreditation processes, outcomes assessment, curriculum mapping, and continuous improvement experience
  • Preferred: active membership or engagement in professional technology or cloud-related organizations
  • Preferred: cloud-based laboratories, virtualized environments, or platform-based learning environments in post-secondary instruction
  • Preferred: two to five years of post-secondary teaching experience
