Job Description

Part-time remote Management faculty teaching undergraduate and graduate students for APUS, an online university serving military and public service communities. Facilitating virtual classrooms, grading coursework, and supporting student success.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver online lessons to undergraduate and/or graduate students
  • Initiate, facilitate, interact with, and moderate online classroom forums
  • Lead classes using the Community of Inquiry Framework of Teaching Presence, Cognitive Presence, and Social Presence
  • Evaluate and grade class work, assignments, and papers within APUS policy timelines
  • Provide effective feedback to guide student learning and success
  • Engage in the classroom and respond to emails at least every other day, including one weekend day
  • Follow APUS guidelines, procedures, instructional materials, and quality faculty engagement expectations
  • Participate in professional development
  • Conduct scholarly research and participate in professional engagement activities
  • Attend discipline-specific and administrative meetings
  • Maintain discipline knowledge through relevant professional communities
  • Support APUS initiatives and departments
  • Comply with APUS policies regarding work product and intellectual property rights

Requirements:

  • Doctoral degree in Management or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution is required
  • College-level teaching experience is required
  • Online teaching experience is required
  • Record of excellence in teaching
  • D2L experience is preferred
  • Published research is preferred
  • All faculty must complete the “Engaging the First-Year Student Certification” course (APUS110) within six months of hire
  • Graduate Faculty must complete the Graduate Faculty Certification (APUS501) within 90 days of hire
  • Applicants with conferred degrees from foreign institutions must provide a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES-approved agency
  • Applicants are responsible for official transcript and foreign transcript evaluation charges
