Job Description
Principal Security Compliance Specialist driving enterprise security compliance across Akamai’s global cloud and edge platform. Architecting controls, audits, and authorization frameworks for commercial, federal, and defense requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Strategically drive and execute security compliance initiatives across Akamai's global enterprise portfolio
- Oversee compliance strategy and execution across regulatory, industry, customer-driven, and defense frameworks
- Interpret complex requirements and design scalable control frameworks
- Lead end-to-end audit initiatives in partnership with cross-functional teams
- Architect and implement adaptable, unified control frameworks for commercial, federal, and DoD authorization requirements
- Collaborate with security architects, software engineers, and system owners to design, test, and maintain technically verifiable controls
- Map controls to federal, defense, and international standards
- Serve as primary technical interface for 3PAOs, C3PAOs, external audit bodies, and defense agencies
- Manage assessment lifecycles, evidence gathering, and finding remediations
- Synthesize compliance gaps, audit findings, and regulatory shifts into risk models, written reports, and strategic briefings
- Drive continuous monitoring and recurring audit workflows for ongoing readiness
Requirements:
- 10+ years relevant experience
- BA/BS or Graduate Degree
- Experience with security compliance programs across multiple frameworks, including DoD SRG IL4/IL5/IL6, CMMC, NIST SP 800-171/53, FedRAMP, SOC 1/2/3, ISO/IEC 27001, PCI-DSS, or GovRAMP
- Experience working directly within a Cloud Service Provider environment or as a consultant/assessor with a Third-Party Assessment Organization
- Proven experience interfacing with senior executive leadership and government/defense stakeholders
- Ability to translate compliance demands into strategic business enablers
- CISSP, CISA, CISM, CCSP, CCA/CCP (CMMC Assessor/Professional), ISO 27001 Lead Auditor, or equivalent credentials
