Job Description
Product Manager owning Empyrean Solutions’ Empyrean ALM platform for banks and credit unions. Driving customer discovery, roadmap strategy, requirements, and engineering delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Own Empyrean ALM’s roadmap and backlog end to end
- Conduct customer interviews, shadow ALM managers and analysts, and test usability firsthand
- Discover needs across current-position data and reconciliation, chart of accounts and consolidation, scenario and shock design, NII/EVE and gap analytics, funds transfer pricing, and ALCO and regulatory reporting
- Understand financial-institution balance sheet risk management, including IRR policies, limits, ALCO cadence, model governance, audit trails, and examiner expectations
- Translate customer discovery into a prioritized, validated roadmap and clear engineering requirements
- Write precise functional requirements for complex financial calculations and workflows
- Partner continuously with ALM engineering on backlog grooming, requirement clarification, feature trade-offs, architecture, data models, and calculation-engine decisions
- Validate delivered functionality against real customer workflows
- Influence engineering, sales, customer success, professional services, and executive stakeholders
- Communicate roadmap priorities and trade-offs to technical, executive, and ALM audiences
- Collaborate with product marketing and sales on positioning, enablement, and demand generation
- Use product usage data and user feedback to prioritize enhancements and drive adoption
- Reduce product complexity while balancing new capabilities against technical debt, performance, calculation accuracy, and platform integrity
- Report to the Product Director, Balance Sheet Risk Solutions and collaborate daily with the product and ALM engineering teams
Requirements:
- 5+ years of product management experience in B2B SaaS or enterprise software
- Proven track record of shipping complex products that customers use and value
- Direct, hands-on customer discovery experience
- Experience defining detailed functional requirements for complex, calculation- or data-heavy software
- Strong technical aptitude, including system architecture, data models, APIs, and integration patterns
- Experience working with enterprise buyers and navigating complex stakeholder environments
- Ability to set roadmap strategy and make sound prioritization decisions under constraints
- Preferred: experience with asset/liability management, interest rate risk, bank/credit union treasury, or analogous regulated and quantitatively complex industries
- Preferred: grasp of financial accounting concepts
- Preferred: familiarity with Jobs-to-be-Done and structured discovery methodologies
- Preferred: experience optimizing and extending a mature, established product
- Working hours must align with the Eastern Time Zone
- Ability to conduct customer research, write precise requirements, prioritize, and groom backlogs hands-on
- Ability to communicate complex topics clearly to engineers, executives, and ALM practitioners
- Ability to work independently with ambiguity and make logic-based trade-offs
