Job Description

Remote PMHNP diagnosing conditions, prescribing medications, and delivering psychotherapy. Expanding access to compassionate mental health care through Brave Health’s technology-enabled services.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess patients’ mental and physical status based on symptoms and complaints
  • Provide care to adolescent and adult patients, or across the lifespan, as assigned
  • Diagnose psychiatric disorders and mental health conditions
  • Distinguish between physiologically- and psychologically-based disorders and diagnose appropriately
  • Conduct individual psychotherapy for chronic or acute mental disorders
  • Order diagnostic testing such as EKGs and lab work
  • Prescribe psychotropic medications, including controlled substances, and educate patients about risks, benefits, and side effects
  • Monitor medication usage, side effects, and treatment results
  • Evaluate patient behavior and response to treatment
  • Verbally deescalate difficult patients when necessary
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members on treatment plans
  • Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment plans, and medications
  • Document medical and psychological histories, assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, prescriptions, and outcomes
  • Complete administrative patient-care documentation, including FMLA and Brave-approved forms
  • Schedule and coordinate follow-up appointments and ongoing treatment
  • Complete patient visits and accurate documentation in the EHR
  • Practice in compliance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, national standards of care, and internal policies
  • Consult recommended references and Clinical and/or Medical Directors for clinical guidance

Requirements:

  • 2 years experience practicing as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Currently holds a Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner license (PMHNP)
  • Experience in Addiction and Mental Health
  • Open to obtaining additional state licensures
  • Motivational Interviewing experience
  • Must have experience working with adults in need of general mental health and/or severe mental illness (SMI) treatment
  • Must have experience and comfort working with patients across the lifespan (ages 13yrs+)
  • Knowledge of mental health diagnoses and/or substance abuse dual-diagnoses
  • Treatment planning
  • Ability to conduct and utilize comprehensive assessments
  • Timely and quality documentation; experience with EHRs
  • Adaptable to technology including telehealth software; comfortable with video communication
  • Awareness of and compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2
  • Eligibility to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship or assistance with work eligibility
  • For clinicians holding a Florida or New York license, an active DEA registration is required and must be obtained and maintained by the clinician
  • Spanish-speaking proficiency preferred; proficiency in other languages a plus
  • Previous telehealth experience preferred
  • Previous experience within the Community Mental Health sector preferred
