Job Description

QA Automation Engineer expanding Playwright and TypeScript test automation for Novara’s EHS and compliance software. Owning API, CI/CD, database, performance, and load testing.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated API and end to end tests using Playwright and TypeScript.
  • Apply risk based testing to determine what warrants automation and explain coverage decisions.
  • Integrate automated tests into GitHub Actions pipelines and maintain automated quality gates across environments.
  • Monitor, triage, and resolve test failures and flakiness by addressing root causes.
  • Perform database level validation using SQL, including during the migration from MongoDB to PostgreSQL.
  • Own performance and load testing, establish baselines for high traffic endpoints, and report regressions with actionable data.
  • Maintain test cases, execution results, and requirement traceability in Xray.
  • Document defects with clear reproduction steps, severity, and supporting evidence.
  • Participate in refinement, estimation, and sprint ceremonies.
  • Collaborate with developers on test code reviews, testability improvements, and shift left quality practices.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of the automation framework, test data strategy, and quality reporting.
  • Directly influence release promotion through Dev, QA, UAT, and Production pipelines.

Requirements:

  • Three or more years of professional QA experience, including demonstrated ownership of test automation you built or substantially extended.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language: JavaScript or TypeScript, Python, or Java.
  • Hands on experience with Playwright, or extensive experience with Cypress or Selenium and a working understanding of Playwright.
  • Solid API testing skills, including REST endpoint testing, authentication flows, payload and schema validation, status code handling, and negative and edge case scenarios.
  • Experience with Postman or an equivalent tool.
  • Experience executing automated tests within CI/CD pipelines, including headless execution, parallel runs, test artifacts, and reporting.
  • Strong test case management experience using a formal test management tool such as Xray or ADO.
  • Strong defect documentation practices, including clear reproduction steps, severity and priority assessment, and supporting evidence.
  • SQL proficiency for data validation and troubleshooting.
  • Experience working in an Agile or Scrum delivery model.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical failures to non technical stakeholders.
  • Must verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States upon hire.
