Job Description
Compliance Advisor at Wilson Sonsini preparing compliance documentation for international trade and regulatory matters. Collaborating with attorneys and overseeing case assistants in compliance processes.
Responsibilities:
- Independently work with clients to prepare compliance documentation, including export, FCC, and NOAA license applications, classification analyses, technology control plans, registration statements, annual and semi-annual reports, and other compliance program documentation.
- Train and oversee the work of case assistants on export controls and FCC licensing.
- Track regulatory developments, support engagement with regulators, prepare and edit internal guidance, create client alerts, and other substantive non-billable materials.
- Support business development efforts through development of pitch materials, attendance at aerospace and defense industry-focused conferences, and development of client alerts related to national security, trade topics and other regulatory matters.
- Support other team projects on an as needed basis.
- Maintain compliance with all firm policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate required
- 8+ years of relevant experience handling international trade compliance, FCC licensing, and other national security and related regulatory matters in a corporate compliance department or law firm required
- Expertise in managing in-house compliance programs, including management of international trade and FCC compliance matters
- Experience managing a team of compliance professionals preferred
- Must possess a high level of attention to detail and be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Stellar project management and organizational skills
- Must possess good judgment, intuition and problem solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external clients
- Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook).
