Job Description
Research Engineer developing LLM/ML evaluation and simulation systems for Netflix’s member understanding. Shaping personalization investments through scalable research, algorithms, and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Research, develop, and iterate on LLM/ML evaluation and simulation systems to improve Netflix’s understanding of its members
- Drive an independent roadmap, deciding which areas need rapid iteration versus deeper development
- Create insights and influence the direction of future member-facing investments across the Product team
- Collaborate with Data Scientists, ML Scientists, and Engineers on varied projects
- Monitor research related to LLM advancement and identify when to implement new best practices and methodologies
Requirements:
- Experienced in improving large generative models and model evaluation through hands-on industry experience
- Substantial relevant industry experience building scalable ML models, particularly in natural language processing and machine learning, and translating them into business impact
- Advanced degree (PhD) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, focused on machine learning, artificial intelligence, or computer vision, or equivalent industry experience
- Strong software engineering skills in Python
- Proficiency with PyTorch or TensorFlow
- Ability to pivot between research goals and end-to-end solution implementation
- Ability to solve complex problems, develop novel algorithms, and adapt methods from research literature
- Ability to explain complex technical details to technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, dynamic environments with ambiguity
