Job Description

Research Scientist conducting independent research in substance misuse and child wellbeing at The Ohio State University. Develops proposals, publishes findings, and mentors students.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct independent research in the areas of substance misuse, child wellbeing and safety in support of the Ohio START intervention.
  • Develop new extramural proposals for research.
  • Publish results in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Train and mentor graduate and undergraduate students.
  • Supervise research assistants to help with data cleaning and coding.
  • Present at conferences, symposiums, or annual meetings.
  • Attend weekly research meetings.
  • Seek additional financial support for research.

Requirements:

  • Proven working experience as a data analyst.
  • Advanced knowledge of statistics and spatial statistics, including experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, Tata, R).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Significant knowledge of and experience using Statewide Automated Child Welfare Information System (SACWIS).
