Job Description
Robotic Automation Engineer II deploying complex robotic laboratory automation systems for HighRes’s life sciences customers. Commissioning, integrating, troubleshooting, and training across the New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York territory.
Responsibilities:
- Commission complex systems integrating robots, laboratory instruments, and CellarioScheduler
- Modify and troubleshoot CellarioScheduler workflows and extend system behavior in C# when required
- Partner with Applications on end-to-end workflow design
- Own acceptance activities and verify hardware, software, and integration deliverables before handover
- Support multi-system deployments with continuous workflows and sample-state tracking across system boundaries
- Execute Factory Acceptance Testing and Site Acceptance Testing with minimal external assistance
- Configure and troubleshoot automation hardware and integrated devices through firmware operations and device-level diagnostics
- Write and maintain C# automation software, scripts, device drivers, and integration hooks
- Configure relational databases supporting laboratory scheduling applications using SQL
- Configure and operate SCARA and articulated robotic arms, including Kuka and Denso platforms
- Participate in system design reviews and cross-functional technical meetings
- Create and maintain technical documentation
- Deliver hardware and software training to customer teams
- Manage customer relationships and stakeholder expectations throughout projects
- Translate complex technical topics for diverse customer audiences
- Mentor junior engineers on commissioning, troubleshooting, and customer engagement
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and 4+ years of relevant experience; or Master's degree and 3+ years; or Associate's degree and 6+ years
- Hands-on experience deploying, configuring, or supporting laboratory automation or industrial robotics systems in a customer-facing setting
- Experience with laboratory automation scheduling software such as CellarioScheduler, Green Button Go (Biosero), Momentum (Thermo Fisher), Overlord (PAA), or equivalent
- Proficiency in C# or another object-oriented programming language
- Ability to independently lead complex technical deployments with minimal supervision
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting robotic systems at hardware and software levels
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills across hardware, software, and network layers
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills across diverse audiences
- Ability to travel up to and sometimes exceeding 40% annually to customer locations domestically and internationally
- Current driver's license and valid passport
- Reliable personal transportation for regional travel
- Comfortable working in laboratory and technical environments
- Capable of lifting up to 25 pounds and standing for extended periods
- Preferred: experience with complex or multi-system automation environments, scripting, driver development, laboratory instrumentation integration, SCARA or articulated robotic arms, SQL, Python, TCP/IP, serial communications, firmware configuration, cross-functional technical meetings, mentorship, and project management
