Job Description
Senior Citrix Engineer managing CVAD, ADC, and AVD environments for an MSP. Supporting client infrastructure, escalations, migrations, automation, security, and change governance.
Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, configure, maintain, and support on-premises Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD) environments across multiple client sites
- Administer Citrix Delivery Controllers, Studio, StoreFront, License Servers, SQL databases, Director, monitoring components, Workspace applications, and licensing
- Engineer, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Citrix ADC/NetScaler, including Gateway, load balancing, SSL offloading, and content switching
- Design and maintain Machine Creation Services provisioning strategies and optimize master/golden images
- Implement and maintain Citrix Profile Management and/or FSLogix
- Plan and execute Citrix version upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure changes
- Support and optimize Azure Virtual Desktop environments, including host pools, session hosts, profiles, access, and application delivery
- Serve as the senior escalation point for complex Citrix and virtualization issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement permanent solutions
- Implement security best practices, review vulnerabilities, and maintain compliance across Citrix environments
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts and Citrix SDK automation
- Serve as Change Control Manager/technical authority; review, approve, coordinate, and oversee Citrix-related changes
- Conduct audits, define maintenance requirements, and support project implementation, design reviews, onboarding, and deployments
- Maintain technical documentation, service records, timesheets, tickets, and client communications
- Mentor less experienced engineers and participate in team meetings, training, and technical discussions
Requirements:
- 10–15 years of relevant IT experience supporting SMB, enterprise, or MSP environments
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on Citrix engineering experience
- Extensive experience supporting on-premises Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD) environments
- Strong hands-on experience with Citrix ADC/NetScaler
- Experience in multi-client, enterprise, or MSP environments
- Experience owning or participating in formal change management/change control processes
- Strong hands-on knowledge of CVAD, Delivery Controllers, Citrix Studio, StoreFront, License Servers, Director, ADC/NetScaler, Gateway, load balancing, SSL offloading, content switching, MCS, golden/master image management, Profile Management, FSLogix, Workspace, HDX, Windows Server, Active Directory, Hyper-V or other enterprise virtualization platforms, Microsoft Azure, AVD, PowerShell, and Citrix SDK/automation
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience
- Required CCP-V or CCE-V certification
- Preferred Citrix ADC/NetScaler, Microsoft Azure, Azure Virtual Desktop, Windows Server, Azure, or virtualization certifications
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting, communication, client-facing, documentation, organizational, decision-making, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing abilities
- Ability to manage multiple client environments and priorities
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Detail-oriented and committed to maintaining technical standards
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and evolving client requirements
