Job Description

Senior Counsel guiding commercial transactions for LabConnect’s global clinical laboratory solutions. Advising business teams, managing contracts, and supporting regulated clinical-trial partnerships.

Responsibilities:

  • Report to the Chief Legal Officer and serve as a trusted legal partner to LabConnect's business teams
  • Oversee the contracts management team
  • Draft, negotiate, and manage the full lifecycle of commercial agreements, including NDAs, MSAs, SOWs, COs, DPAs, BAAs, and amendments
  • Advise commercial, operations, and project management teams on legal and regulatory requirements
  • Advise on regulatory and compliance matters across LabConnect's global operations, including commercial regulations and data privacy
  • Develop and update internal policies, standard operating procedures, and contract guidelines
  • Improve legal processes, templates, playbooks, and contract workflows
  • Manage and mentor contract managers and contract specialists
  • Identify and assess legal and commercial risks and escalate issues to the Chief Legal Officer
  • Support strategic transactions, including laboratory alliance expansions, new service launches, acquisitions, and partnerships
  • Conduct due diligence and draft or review transaction documents
  • Set team priorities, allocate workload, review work product, establish performance standards, conduct evaluations, and create development plans
  • Travel approximately 10% of working time, primarily to LabConnect's Raleigh, NC headquarters

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar
  • 5–7 years of experience advising on commercial and operational matters
  • Experience preferably in laboratory services, clinical research, life sciences, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or similar highly regulated environments
  • Ability to independently evaluate complex legal issues and deliver commercially pragmatic solutions
  • Ability to synthesize large volumes of information and present concise recommendations
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, advisory, and cross-functional consultation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver under tight timelines
  • Polished contract drafting and redlining skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word
  • Proficiency in CRM systems such as Salesforce, CLM systems such as LinkSquares, legal AI tools such as GC AI, and e-signature tools such as DocuSign
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, orally and in writing
  • Ability to sit at a desk or workstation for extended periods
  • Sufficient dexterity to operate a computer, keyboard, and standard office equipment
