Job Description
Senior Enterprise File Transmissions Engineer designing and maintaining file transfer systems at Velera. Collaborates with stakeholders to ensure efficient data transfers using IBM Sterling products.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the design, planning and implementation/engineering of integration solutions using IBM MFT Suite (Sterling File Gateway, Sterling B2B Integrator, Sterling Secure+, Sterling Control Center)
- Reviews assigned file transmission requests and configures a standard file transmission solution.
- Partners with lines of business to select transfer methods tailored to meet business requirements.
- Securely exchanges data, following corporate and industry standards to minimize risks of unauthorized access, theft, or manipulations of data.
- Verifies completion of automated file transfers.
- Creates and maintains file transfer documentation.
- Troubleshoots and corrects problems with existing automation and procedures.
- Works with the business lines to troubleshoot and remediate issues related to unsuccessful file movements
- Provides support for data movement solutions, including extraction, transformation, and load (ETL) processes, query, and data validation.
- Assists and supports leadership with file movement directions, while developing an effective strategy to help the department succeed in the overall goal.
- Provides consultation on analytic capabilities and enterprise integrated data assets to business partners to mature the Enterprise Data Movement vision and direction.
- Influences technical direction and use of technologies relevant for file movements after making necessary evaluations; partners with development architecture team and vendors and provides recommendations for file movement processes.
- Provides tier 3 support for the managed file transfer systems/processes.
- Assesses existing automation frameworks, to provide analytic capabilities and enterprise integrated data assets to business partners to mature enterprise data movement vision and direction.
- Consults and meets with internal business lines to analyze and understand file transfer requests
- Communicates with technical and non-technical external/internal customers, as well as multiple levels of management, when designing, testing, and implementing file transfer workflows.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- 8+ years of systems development, testing and/or business experience or related work experience with data transfer tools, specifically IBM Sterling File Transfer products
- 8+ years of Hands on experience with BPML and shell/Python/Powershell scripting.
- 5+ years of experience with other MFT platforms such as Go Anywhere or Globalscape
- Proficient in building services, adapters and configuring property files to implement file transfer solutions.
- Experience in file transfer protocol – SSH/SFTP, FTPS, HTTPS, AS2, Connect Direct etc.
- Experience establishing SLAs and availability goals to meet business requirements and budget constraints
- Experience in installation and maintenance of a clustered environment for high availability
- Expertise on Windows platforms and writing command scripts
- Expertise on building the out of box reports and custom reports on IBM control center and Sterling File Gateway/Sterling Integrator
