Job Description

Senior Forward Deployed Engineer building production Generative AI agents and full-stack applications for Sedgwick’s insurance operations. Deploying secure AWS services and partnering with claims and Managed Care teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Own a build stream end to end within a pod, from problem shaping through implementation, production operation, and instrumentation
  • Design, build, and operate production Generative AI agents, workflows, and applications
  • Develop full-stack software in Python and React, including services and user interfaces
  • Deploy and operate workloads on AWS using Terraform and GitHub Actions CI/CD
  • Implement evaluation, observability, provenance, confirmation controls, and human-in-the-loop controls for AI systems
  • Implement authentication, authorization, logging, monitoring, and error handling for enterprise security, auditability, PHI, and reliability requirements
  • Integrate AI services with enterprise and legacy systems using APIs, data platforms, event streams, and versioned contracts
  • Steward shared capabilities and prevent duplicate builds across pods
  • Co-develop with vendor delivery teams when required
  • Work directly with examiners, nurse reviewers, and operations staff to turn observed work into services, workflows, and UI changes
  • Mentor Junior AI Engineers and promote engineering standards, code quality, and operational excellence
  • Troubleshoot, lead root cause analysis, and optimize production AI service latency, throughput, cost, correctness, and reliability
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to architecture, platform capabilities, and engineering processes
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Travel as required, including on-site work with claims or Managed Care operations and vendor delivery teams

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline from an accredited college or university required
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Six (6)+ years of software engineering experience
  • At least three (3) years shipping production Generative AI agents, workflows, or applications, including evaluation, failure handling, and a human review loop, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Hands-on experience building and operating production workloads on AWS required; cloud certification without production ownership is insufficient
  • Hands-on experience with Python, React, GitHub Actions, and Terraform, including ownership of CI/CD and infrastructure
  • Strong full-stack engineering skills in Python and React, with working knowledge of SQL, REST APIs, and service design
  • Experience implementing enterprise architecture, governance, PHI handling, and compliance requirements
  • Experience with Generative AI agents, workflows, applications, tool use, orchestration, evaluation, and human-in-the-loop patterns
  • Strong mentoring, collaboration, and technical communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced Transformation Office and pair with vendor engineers
  • Experience with machine learning, model fine-tuning, and/or graph databases preferred
  • Experience with PydanticAI or equivalent agent framework, agent observability, and AI Ops/LLMOps a plus
  • Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies

Benefits:

  • Work-life balance
  • Remote work for U.S.-based candidates
  • Career growth opportunities
  • Caring culture
  • Travel as required, including on-site work with claims or Managed Care operations and vendor delivery teams
