Job Description

Senior Privacy Counsel advising an international technology company on GDPR, AI, and commercial data protection matters. Improving privacy governance, agreements, and risk management across Germany and global markets.

Responsibilities:

  • Advise colleagues across the business on privacy and data protection matters with clear, commercially focused legal guidance
  • Work with product, technology and commercial teams on new services and address privacy considerations early
  • Support negotiation of commercial agreements involving data processing, international transfers, customer relationships and third-party arrangements
  • Advise on GDPR and other applicable international data protection regulations across different markets
  • Provide guidance on emerging technologies, including AI, and new products and data processing activities
  • Review and improve privacy policies, internal procedures and governance frameworks
  • Work with information security and IT teams on data governance, risk assessments and privacy-related incidents
  • Improve privacy operations through automation and better internal processes
  • Monitor regulatory developments concerning data protection, AI and digital services
  • Train and guide colleagues on personal-data responsibilities

Requirements:

  • Qualified lawyer
  • Approximately 4–8 years’ experience specialising in data protection, privacy or technology law, gained in private practice, in-house or a combination of both
  • Strong knowledge of GDPR and European data protection law, including regulatory guidance and its practical application within commercial organisations
  • Experience advising technology businesses, ideally with exposure to software, AI, digital products or other data-intensive environments
  • Good understanding of artificial intelligence technologies and the legal and regulatory challenges associated with their development and use
  • Experience advising on commercial agreements involving personal data, international transfers and complex data processing arrangements
  • Comfortable working directly with product, engineering and technical stakeholders, understanding complex issues and providing clear, practical legal advice
  • Commercial approach to risk management
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities independently
  • Experience within an international business or advising on privacy matters across multiple jurisdictions beneficial
