Job Description

Senior QA Engineer ensuring quality for Storyblok’s headless CMS platform. Building Playwright automation, strengthening TypeScript standards, and guiding testing strategy across Product Engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Own projects end-to-end with clarity, technical excellence, and accountability, ensuring high-quality standards across teams.
  • Champion strong TypeScript engineering practices and coding standards across the QA codebase, promoting engineering excellence and driving continuous improvement.
  • Design, implement, and maintain efficient, well-typed, and reliable automated tests across frontend and backend using Playwright.
  • Introduce stronger typing patterns, reusable abstractions, linting/tooling standards, and code review practices to improve automation-codebase maintainability.
  • Partner with engineering to define, implement, and enforce the test pyramid, including guidelines for unit, integration, and E2E testing.
  • Perform manual and exploratory testing; document, track, and verify defects.
  • Analyze test results and monitor key testing metrics to identify patterns and improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in project kick-offs to understand requirements, anticipate risks, and influence testability early.
  • Identify and communicate issues, risks, or dependencies early, escalating to product leadership when necessary.
  • Mentor and support teammates on TypeScript proficiency and Playwright best practices.
  • Collaborate with product owners, designers, developers, and the Product Engineering team to ensure the quality and reliability of Storyblok’s headless CMS platform.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience as a QA Engineer or Software Engineer in Test.
  • Deep proficiency in TypeScript, including advanced typing and code architecture, and Playwright.
  • Practical experience defining and rolling out test pyramid guidelines across engineering and QA teams.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, especially GitHub Actions.
  • Experience creating and maintaining containerized test environments.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and product teams.
  • High attention to detail and proven ability to deliver results.
  • Strong motivation to contribute to organizational growth in a high-performing environment.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and defining and driving TypeScript and test automation standards across teams.
  • AI literacy, including leveraging AI tools for productivity, decision-making, and quality while applying sound judgment and critical thinking.
  • Nice to have: experience writing and maintaining Ruby on Rails code.
  • Nice to have: experience with observability and error tracking tools such as Grafana, Kibana, and Sentry.
  • Nice to have: experience with performance testing and best practices.
