Job Description
Senior React Native Engineer rebuilding a large-scale UK news mobile application into a video-led digital experience.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the rebuild of a high-traffic news mobile application using React Native
- Design and implement a scalable, component-based UI architecture
- Build a video-led content experience focused on performance and usability
- Integrate with third-party SDKs for content delivery
- Work in an Agile environment (Scrum, two-week sprints)
- Support mobile build and deployment processes (iOS & Android)
- Collaborate with Product and Design to translate requirements into technical solutions
- Debug, refactor and continuously improve the existing codebase
- Leverage AI-assisted coding tools to increase efficiency and maintain high code standards
Requirements:
- 10+ years of software engineering experience
- Strong commercial experience building React Native apps for both Android and iOS
- Deep knowledge of TypeScript
- Experience with Expo and mobile build/deployment workflows
- Strong understanding of component-based architecture and state management
- Experience consuming REST APIs and handling asynchronous data
- Ability to write clean, testable, maintainable code
- Strong debugging and refactoring skills
- Proficiency with Git for version control
- Experience working in Agile development environments
- Strong English communication skills (written and verbal)
- Comfortable working within a UK time-zone aligned team
