Job Description
Senior Software Engineer building Azure full-stack applications for Cornerstone Building Brands, a major North American building-products manufacturer. Modernizing internal tools with cloud, automation, and AI.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain internal business applications using Microsoft Azure services and modern full-stack engineering practices
- Own solution design from concept through implementation, including architecture, data flow, integrations, security, deployment, and supportability
- Build front-end experiences using React, TypeScript/JavaScript, reusable components, and API-driven patterns
- Develop and maintain back-end services, REST APIs, serverless functions, integrations, and cloud-native components
- Evaluate, refactor, harden, and scale prototypes and business-created applications into enterprise-grade solutions
- Provide technical leadership, code reviews, architecture guidance, and mentoring
- Establish and reinforce coding standards, branching strategies, pull request expectations, and quality controls
- Translate business problems and workflow gaps into technical solutions
- Integrate applications with ERP, CRM, data services, authentication platforms, reporting tools, document processing services, and APIs
- Apply secure coding, identity, access control, data protection, privacy, and governance practices
- Use Git, CI/CD pipelines, work-item tracking, and release management practices
- Support monitoring, logging, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and production readiness using Azure Monitor and Application Insights
- Apply AI/ML capabilities including prompt engineering, LLM integration, document processing, classification, summarization, and AI-assisted development
- Maintain technical documentation, architecture notes, deployment instructions, runbooks, and knowledge-transfer materials
- Improve development practices through reusable patterns, shared components, automation, and standards
Requirements:
- 5+ years of professional software development experience (hands-on design, development, testing, deployment, and support of production applications)
- 2+ years of experience building cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure or comparable cloud platforms
- Experience with React, TypeScript/JavaScript, REST APIs, and cloud-native back-end services
- Experience designing and building scalable application architectures from business requirements, prototypes, or loosely defined problem statements
- Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including clean code, modular design, error handling, logging, testing, maintainability, and performance considerations
- Experience with Git-based source control, including branching, merging, pull requests, code reviews, and release coordination
- Experience integrating applications with enterprise systems using REST APIs, event-driven patterns, messaging, data services, or other integration approaches
- Working knowledge of CI/CD concepts and tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms
- Experience with AI/ML-enabled application patterns, including prompt engineering, LLM integration, document processing, semantic search, classification, summarization, or AI-assisted software development
- Ability to communicate clearly with business stakeholders, analysts, developers, technical partners, and leadership
