Job Description

Senior full-stack engineer building TypeScript/Node.js and React systems for Airtm’s cross-border payments platform. Owning financial product features, AI-assisted development, mentoring, and production operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design of medium-to-large features across the stack, document decisions, and anticipate edge cases and long-term maintainability
  • Build and maintain TypeScript/Node.js microservices, event handlers, cronjobs, and React UIs powering core financial flows
  • Use AI coding assistants and agentic tools for scaffolding, refactoring, test generation, and code review
  • Break down complex problems across multiple services and UIs; drive delivery from design through deployment
  • Write well-tested, maintainable code and conduct thorough code reviews, including AI-generated code
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers on technical practices and responsible AI tooling use
  • Coordinate with engineers in other product pods and contribute to shared services
  • Participate in on-call rotation, lead incident response, and conduct post-incident reviews
  • Identify and address technical debt while balancing short-term delivery with long-term system health

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with demonstrated full stack range (backend services and frontend UIs)
  • Proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js for building production services
  • Proficiency in React for building production-facing UIs, including state management, component design, and performance
  • Experience designing and building REST or GraphQL APIs
  • Solid understanding of relational databases, including PostgreSQL or similar, modeling, query optimization, and migrations
  • Familiarity with event-driven architecture and messaging patterns such as Kafka or SQS
  • Experience working in a microservices environment
  • Hands-on, day-to-day experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, Zed’s Agentic editing, or similar
  • Comfort with prompt/context engineering and validating AI-generated output
  • Strong grasp of software design principles, separation of concerns, error handling, and testing strategies
  • Experience writing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests
  • Comfort operating in a cloud environment, AWS preferred, with understanding of deployments, logs, and basic infrastructure concepts
  • Strong communication skills; proactive about sharing progress, blockers, and technical risks
