Job Description
Senior Java engineer building CVS Health’s AI-native Health100 backend platform. Designing APIs, distributed systems, and production releases across remote US teams.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with technical leaders and the open-source community on technical designs, frameworks, roadmaps, and requirements gathering
- Provide domain knowledge and engineering insight for early designs and project decision-making
- Maintain oversight of technical execution
- Promote engineering excellence and build reliable distributed systems
- Move features from prototype to production
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs
- Coordinate releases, prepare release notes, and track development tasks and dependencies
- Collaborate with business, product, architecture, security, digital, and engineering teams
- Contribute to automation initiatives
- Support high-performing remote teams
- Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence across the development lifecycle
- Monitor production, triage issues, and coordinate across teams
Requirements:
- 5+ years of Java development experience using Spring Boot and/or Spring MVC
- Ability to work with cloud platforms such as GCP and Azure
- Experience with end-to-end DevOps pipelines
- 3+ years of experience developing and maintaining RESTful APIs, microservices, and backend systems
- Strong skills in relational and/or NoSQL databases
- Knowledge of software engineering fundamentals including problem solving, data structures, algorithms, design patterns, concurrency, agile methodologies, and sprint planning
- Experience coordinating release cycles, preparing release notes, and tracking development tasks and dependencies
- Healthcare domain experience such as PBM, NCPDP, or HIPAA preferred
- Experience in a hybrid software development and release/operations management role preferred
- Experience with an application and performance monitoring platform preferred
- Knowledge of message queues and event-driven architectures such as Pub/Sub and Kafka preferred
- Experience with SRE or DevOps practices, incident management, and root-cause analysis preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- High school diploma plus 4 years of relevant work experience accepted as an alternative to the degree
