Job Description

Senior Java engineer building CVS Health’s AI-native Health100 backend platform. Designing APIs, distributed systems, and production releases across remote US teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with technical leaders and the open-source community on technical designs, frameworks, roadmaps, and requirements gathering
  • Provide domain knowledge and engineering insight for early designs and project decision-making
  • Maintain oversight of technical execution
  • Promote engineering excellence and build reliable distributed systems
  • Move features from prototype to production
  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs
  • Coordinate releases, prepare release notes, and track development tasks and dependencies
  • Collaborate with business, product, architecture, security, digital, and engineering teams
  • Contribute to automation initiatives
  • Support high-performing remote teams
  • Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence across the development lifecycle
  • Monitor production, triage issues, and coordinate across teams

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of Java development experience using Spring Boot and/or Spring MVC
  • Ability to work with cloud platforms such as GCP and Azure
  • Experience with end-to-end DevOps pipelines
  • 3+ years of experience developing and maintaining RESTful APIs, microservices, and backend systems
  • Strong skills in relational and/or NoSQL databases
  • Knowledge of software engineering fundamentals including problem solving, data structures, algorithms, design patterns, concurrency, agile methodologies, and sprint planning
  • Experience coordinating release cycles, preparing release notes, and tracking development tasks and dependencies
  • Healthcare domain experience such as PBM, NCPDP, or HIPAA preferred
  • Experience in a hybrid software development and release/operations management role preferred
  • Experience with an application and performance monitoring platform preferred
  • Knowledge of message queues and event-driven architectures such as Pub/Sub and Kafka preferred
  • Experience with SRE or DevOps practices, incident management, and root-cause analysis preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • High school diploma plus 4 years of relevant work experience accepted as an alternative to the degree
