Job Description
Senior Software Engineer building backend-heavy full-stack capabilities for Horizon3.ai’s autonomous penetration-testing platform. Owning product delivery, APIs, cloud services, and customer risk experiences.
Responsibilities:
- Build and ship product capabilities spanning backend services, APIs, and modern web application stacks
- Own moderate-to-large projects end-to-end, including scoping, technical design, implementation, rollout, and iteration
- Implement clear, maintainable, performant user-facing experiences aligned with product requirements and design direction
- Partner with Product, Design, and adjacent engineering teams on cross-functional initiatives
- Identify and resolve technical risks, blockers, and mis-scoped work
- Explain technical decisions, tradeoffs, delivery risks, and implementation choices to technical and non-technical audiences
- Contribute to architecture and design discussions focused on maintainability, operability, and long-term productivity
- Write high-quality code, tests, and technical documentation
- Provide code reviews that improve team output
- Support and mentor less experienced engineers through feedback, onboarding, and collaboration
- Improve engineering quality, team execution, and product experience through ownership and continuous improvement
- Help build Horizon3.ai’s NodeZero platform for autonomous cybersecurity penetration testing and risk assessment
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong professional experience building and operating production software across the full stack
- Ability to independently drive substantial work from requirements gathering through delivery
- Experience building distributed backend services using Python, Go, Rust, Java, TypeScript, or similar
- Experience building backend services on AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Familiarity with Docker and containerized applications
- Experience designing and operating APIs, services, and asynchronous or event-driven systems
- Experience working with SQL-based relational databases in production
- Experience with data modeling and persistence layers for product-grade backend systems
- Experience with observability, reliability, and operational best practices for production services
- Frontend development using modern JavaScript/TypeScript with React, Angular, or similar
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Preferred: PostgreSQL and performance tuning for large datasets
- Preferred: graph databases such as Neo4j
- Preferred: GraphQL backends
- Preferred: ETL pipelines and data processing tools
- Preferred: vulnerability management, exposure management, security telemetry, or related cybersecurity experience
- Preferred: scoring or recommendation algorithms and data-intensive products
- Preferred: partnering with product managers to define and sequence an MVP
- Preferred: shaping technical direction across an organization
