Job Description
Software Engineer building Akamai’s distributed SDN, telemetry, and DDoS protection systems. Developing API-driven network automation for Akamai’s global cloud and edge platform.
Responsibilities:
- Learn cloud infrastructure and Akamai networking
- Design software projects and scale distributed software-defined networking solutions
- Implement inbound and outbound DDoS protection
- Manage lifecycle upgrades
- Expand flow telemetry
- Develop API-driven control systems
- Create automated configurations to safeguard IP traffic flows across backbone connectivity layers and datacenter fabric
- Build tools and develop new features for existing software
- Develop tests, test automation, testing frameworks, and performance benchmarks
- Design reliable, high-quality, usable software for indefinitely scalable deployed networks
- Create reusable code and libraries
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on communication and code development
- Create developer documentation for tools when applicable
Requirements:
- Fluency writing code in at least one modern programming language, such as Java, Go, Python, or C++
- Knowledge and experience maintaining software running on Linux
- Understanding of IP addressing, IP routing, commonly used protocols, and networking equipment
- Basic understanding of DDoS mitigation methods and network flow telemetry
- Experience building API-driven control systems for automated network configuration and attack containment
