Job Description
Staff Software Engineer building AI content pipelines and scalable applications for a small-business growth app. Leading architecture, quality evaluation, APIs, and production software delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Design, test, and implement the app for small business owners
- Report to an Engineering Manager and partner with the Product team
- Provide technical leadership throughout the software development lifecycle, including data structures and algorithms, architecture design, code review, troubleshooting, and updates
- Define project scope and scale with the Engineering Manager and Product team
- Own the architecture of the AI content pipeline, including model context, task decomposition, model selection, quality, cost, and latency
- Build automated quality checks for AI-generated content using evaluation sets from real data
- Develop, design, and maintain scalable web applications, mobile applications, and RESTful APIs
- Write clean, efficient, well-documented, secure code
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deploy applications
- Troubleshoot and debug applications
- Identify bottlenecks and improve software efficiency
- Stay current with emerging software development trends and technologies
Requirements:
- 7+ years building production software
- Experience taking a product or major feature from 0 to 1 and owning it after launch
- Ability to learn new languages, frameworks, and domains as required
- Experience shipping a production feature built on LLM output and owning hallucination, output quality, and cost issues
- Deep experience with TypeScript and SQL/Postgres
- Daily use of AI coding agents such as Claude Code or Cursor on production work
- Ability to raise team standards through code review, written standards, and mentoring
- Ability to raise risks early with options
- Nice to have: Supabase, Google Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, Flutter/Dart, LLM evaluation, multi-step LLM generation, retrieval or fact-checking pipelines, local SEO or marketing copy generation
