Job Description
Sr. Staff Engineer building Chronosphere’s scalable telemetry collection and ingestion platform. Developing Go-based distributed systems for Palo Alto Networks’ observability product.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and test enhancements to the metric API, telemetry collection agents, and core ingestion pipeline
- Use Go on Kubernetes and GCP
- Collaborate across product, design, and infrastructure to define the architectural and technical roadmap of the metrics platform
- Improve team reliability and software quality practices through direct mentorship, program development, and development infrastructure
- Build operational tooling for authored code
- Work with the cloud infrastructure team to manage code in production
- Design and implement telemetry collection agents and ingestion pipelines handling hundreds of millions of writes per second
- Build highly available API platforms and telemetry collection agents optimized for memory, CPU, and network efficiency
- Develop secure, defensible, debuggable, and operable code for cloud and customer environments
Requirements:
- Proven track record building high-quality, highly scalable systems
- Experience building sophisticated application services
- Strong skills in a systems-level language such as Go, C++, Java, C#, or Rust
- Ability to independently own projects from inception to delivery, including planning, gathering requirements, and collaborating with Product
- Experience mentoring junior engineers
- Flexible, collaborative working style
