Job Description
Senior full-stack engineer building React, Node.js, and Go features for Ontrac Solutions customer engagements. Refactoring legacy codebases, securing services, and designing PostgreSQL and MongoDB data systems.
Responsibilities:
- Build and extend full-stack features across React frontends and Node.js and Go backend services according to agreed designs and acceptance criteria
- Build, modify, and integrate scalable backend APIs across the services in scope
- Establish how current functionality operates in the existing codebase
- Refactor or decommission legacy components without regressing existing behaviour
- Design and query PostgreSQL and MongoDB schemas for new and modified features
- Implement and maintain authentication, role-based access control, and authorization across services
- Write unit and integration tests for delivered components to agreed coverage expectations
- Integrate with AWS services and, when required, Snowflake and n8n
- Participate in sprint ceremonies and working sessions with Ontrac and customer teams
- Keep delivery status current so progress can be tracked against agreed measures
- Work with the program manager, engagement leads, and customer stakeholders from initial definition through final delivery
Requirements:
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience spanning frontend and backend work
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- JavaScript and TypeScript experience building type-safe applications and services end to end
- Production React experience building dynamic, responsive, real-time frontend interfaces
- Production Node.js experience building scalable server-side applications and asynchronous backend services
- Go experience building scalable backend services and APIs
- PostgreSQL and MongoDB experience, including schema design and querying
- Experience implementing secure authentication and authorization, including role-based access control
- Experience building, modifying, and integrating scalable backend APIs
- Experience writing unit and integration tests for backend components
- Comfort navigating complex codebases to refactor or decommission legacy code without regressing existing behaviour
- Working knowledge of AWS cloud services and associated client libraries and APIs
- Experience delivering within an Agile/Scrum team, including sprints, stand-ups, and retrospectives
- Snowflake experience integrating and querying enterprise cloud data warehousing is useful
- n8n experience building and maintaining automated workflow integrations is useful
- Role is US only
