Job Description
Senior Structural Engineer designing hyperscale and colocation data centers for AECOM, a global infrastructure consulting firm. Leading resilient structural systems, documentation, client coordination, and technical mentorship.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and perform structural design and analysis for multiple hyperscale and colocation data center buildings
- Develop design documentation for tilt-up concrete panels, precast structures, steel framing systems, and deep and shallow foundations
- Coordinate design deliverables with architectural, civil, MEP, and construction teams
- Oversee construction documents, specifications, and calculations for quality, code compliance, and technical excellence
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers
- Engage with clients, contractors, and review authorities on technical queries and design clarifications
- Support business development, proposal writing, and conceptual structural design for new pursuits
- Travel occasionally for client meetings, site visits, project milestones, and onsite collaboration
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Minimum 8 years of relevant professional experience in building structures design and analysis, or equivalent experience and/or education
- Licensed U.S. Professional Engineer (PE or SE)
- Experience in data center, mission critical, or large-scale logistics/industrial facilities
- Experience with BIM ACC (Revit), ETABS, RISA, RAM, SAP2000, SAFE, and similar tools
- Experience with precast concrete systems, steel design, seismic design, and foundation systems
- Demonstrated experience with low embodied carbon materials and sustainable structural design approaches
- Preferred: 3+ years of experience with data center facilities and familiarity with data center design standards and structural resiliency requirements
- Preferred: LEED, Envision, or active leadership in SE 2050 implementation
- Expertise in low embodied carbon materials, sustainable structural systems, and emerging industry best practices
- Ability to interpret and apply national and local building codes
- Occasional travel for client meetings, site visits, and other project-related activities
- Must be eligible to work in the United States; sponsorship is not available
