Job Description

Structural Engineer designing hyperscale and colocation data centers for AECOM, a global infrastructure consultancy. Delivering concrete, steel, foundation, resilient, and low-carbon structural solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural design and analysis for multiple hyperscale and colocation data center buildings
  • Develop design documentation for tilt-up concrete panels, precast structures, steel framing systems, and deep and shallow foundations
  • Coordinate design deliverables with architectural, civil, MEP, and construction teams
  • Prepare construction documents, specifications, and calculations
  • Ensure quality, code compliance, and technical excellence
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and designers
  • Engage with clients, contractors, and review authorities on technical queries and design clarifications
  • Support business development, proposal writing, and conceptual structural design for new pursuits
  • Travel as needed for client meetings, site visits, key project milestones, onsite collaboration sessions, and other business-critical activities
  • Work with global AECOM teams on high-profile, fast-paced data center projects

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Licensed U.S. Professional Engineer (PE or SE)
  • 5+ years of professional experience in building structures design and analysis
  • Experience with data center, mission critical, or large-scale logistics/industrial facilities
  • Experience with BIM ACC (Revit), ETABS, RISA, RAM, SAP2000, SAFE, and similar tools
  • Experience with precast concrete systems, steel design, seismic design, and foundation systems
  • Demonstrated experience with low embodied carbon materials and sustainable structural design approaches
  • Preferred: 3+ years of experience with data center facilities and familiarity with data center-specific design standards and structural resiliency requirements
  • LEED, Envision, or active leadership in SE 2050 implementation preferred
  • Expertise in low embodied carbon materials, sustainable structural systems, and emerging industry best practices
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and leadership skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary and geographically diverse teams
  • Ability to interpret and apply national and local building codes
  • U.S. Professional Engineer licensure is required
  • Must be able to attend in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office
